In the Spring of 2005 the Georgia Association of Regional Development Centers determined that the Economic Development staff of each Regional Development Center in the state should meet on a periodic basis to discuss best practises, public relations, training, and common issues. John Leonard, Executive Director of the South Georgia Regional Development Center, is the RDC Executive Director assigned to assist the Economic Development Committee and is the liaison between the Georgia Association of Regional Development Centers and the committee members. Notes of each committee meeting will be posted on the Georgia Association of Regional Development Centers website.

May 12, 2005

The 2005 session of the Georgia General Assembly adjourned sine die March 31st, Thursday evening, at midnight on the 39th legislative day of the session. This marks the first time in anyone’s memory that it did not utilize the full 40 days allowed by the state’s Constitution. A summary is provided of legislation of interest to the GARDC.

GARDC 2005 Legislative Summary


November 17, 2004

The GARDC Annual Conference took place at the King & Prince Resort on St. Simons Island from November 10th - 12th. GARDC elected new officers, and conducted several training workshops. Some of the key speakers for the conference were Carol Couch, Director of the Environmental Protection Division (EPD), and Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Commissioner Mike Beatty. There was also a legislative round table with Senator Eric Johnson ( President Pro Tempore) , and Representatives Jay Shaw and Jerry Keen (Republican House Majority Leader).
